Spring Flowers At Plainsboro Library Gallery

Plainsboro Public Library – April 2017

Photographer Roberta C. Scott helps usher in the spring season at Plainsboro Library Gallery with a collection of nature photography that includes exquisite floral images. Her works will be on display from April 1 – 26. A reception will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2 – 4 pm, where Scott will be available to chat about her work.

Scott’s artistic credo is “Beauty lies in your own backyard.” She finds beauty in the ordinary and the expected, using the lens and light to capture that special moment for the viewer. Her body of work encompasses most aspects of photography from landscapes to still-life.

Now a resident of Middlesex, NJ, Scott was born in Jersey City, and has been an award-winning photographer for over 35 years.  She presently works part-time at the Fleetwood Museum of Art & Photographica in North Plainfield and is a member of the Center for Contemporary Art, The Nature Conservancy, and the New Jersey Audubon Society.

Scott graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.A. in Theatre Arts.  At that time, she also earned a Secondary Teaching Credential. For several years she taught high school Media & Communication, Film & Literature, and directed school plays in California. While there she also took workshops at the University Extension, Berkeley, to enhance her own education in media and photography. Scott also received training in computer graphics as a means of seeking new ways to create compelling photo-based images.

Once again in New Jersey, she completed a Master’s program in Theatre Arts at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts.  While working full-time and exhibiting in the Tri-State area, she conducted photography workshops for a variety of organizations, including the Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife. She has been published in Garden Magazine and was featured on Channel 8 Cable TV for her exhibit of nature photographs, and her images are a part of both private and permanent collections.
